Climate Emergency and Zero Emissions Commitment for the Season of Creation

The Passionist Congregation in England and Wales have recognised the climate and ecological emergency by pledging to working to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in their own operations by 2025. They are in the process of engaging the necessary professional advice needed to fulfill this commitment.

They also call on government to tell the truth about the emergency and work towards a zero emissions target of 2025.

This statement is being issued now to mark the Season of Creation (1st September to 4th October). See the Press Release on our website.

Celebrating Creation Time

Meanwhile, Passionist Partner Green Christian is celebrating Creation Time with two regional day conferences in Manchester on 14th September and Stroud on 28th September: “Green Christian on The Road Together”, organised by Green Christian together with local church members.

Both days include interactive workshops exploring the spiritual disciplines of Green Christian’s Way of Life, and also Joy in Enough, its campaign for a new kind of economics. People of all denominations and none are invited to attend. Deborah Tomkins, Co-Chair of Green Christian, said:

“I am very much looking forward to meeting with environmentally concerned Christians in Manchester and Stroud during Creation Time, and hearing from them how Green Christian can help resource them and their churches as they seek to live out their calling to care for Creation. We have held several of these ‘On The Road Together’ day conferences in the last two years, and we look forward to holding more in the future.”
